5 tinnyy tweaks that made my life better šµjust design tea #11
this newsletter was sent courtesy all 5 tweaks.
I am a big fan of low-effort but high-ROI tweaks. sharing my top 5 that save my life all the time.
ā° 10 seconds of insaneĀ courage
so how that works is whenever you are doubting yourself, or have a fear or just need to get over itāāāfrom the bottom of your heart, gather 10 seconds of courage.
send that cold message. walk up to your CEO to pitch an idea. get on that stage. post a video. publish a blog. call your crush. jump off the cliff.
take a deep breath and promise yourself just 10 seconds of courage. like what would you do if you had no fears?
š§ just for 20Ā mins
I really wasnāt in a mood to write this. and we all have these scenarios in our daily life. finishing a boring doc. working on portfolio. tidying up your place. starting an application. boring adult stuff like taxes and visas.
basically whenever you feel a wall of resistance, or your perfection monster wonāt let you start stuff, or you just need to get stuff done even if you would rather be scrolling on TikTok.
set a timer for 20 minutes. nothing fancyāāāthe one on google chrome. and start. give yourself permission to be crappy and messy.
my timer shows 17 mins 43 sec left. in less than 3mins I have the momentum to finish this blog.
š§drink a glass of water when you craveĀ sweets
this one is a recent one. but I read somewhere when you are craving something sweet, more often than not you are just dehydrated sis.
so every time I am tempted to go hunt chocolate (I love cadbury milk chocolate), I drink some water first. In my head, I tell myself it is just a minor delay.
and like 4 out of 5 times, I will completely forget about it in a few minutes.
cutting down on sugar is my ongoing goal, mainly to improve my focus and energy levels. so this tiny hack has been a game changer.
š continuous noteĀ taking
like I mentioned I wasnāt in a mood to write todayāāābut I had these 5 points noted down in a messy notion page.
I donāt even remember when I had written them. Probably on a commute or in a meeting.
but continuous note taking can help you capture ideas, but more importantly reflect back a mirror on whatās on your mind, whatās exciting for you, what drains your energy or makes you anxious.
you can be journaling daily, or taking notes on what you did, or writing a weekly blog.
try and start with one method and frequency of note-taking that works for you.
šØ move fast on a small number ofĀ things
I just have had to agree that I am not a super productive, efficient human most days. I am human. I only have 24 hours in a day. and I cannot be doing all the things all the time.
at the start of this year, I very strictly decided to focus on 4 things. 4 things out of my list of 20+ things I really really really wanna do.
and I canāt pick new things till I am done with those 4.Ā
it has freed up my brain to focus only on those 4 things. I donāt have to feel guilty/disappointed about not doing the other thingsāāābecause they are just not my priority.
the other day I completed a task I have been dragging along for months. months!!Ā
so handpick a few important impactful tasks, and move fast on them.
my favorite things this week
š Youtube video
Shared this on my stories last night, but absolutely love this video on soft discipline. I have been doing versions of it in 2023, and it works!
š New feature alerts
I always keep an eye out for the up and coming on social apps. Instagram announced channels, Spotify is testing a very tiktok-ish discover tab, Twitter is making 2FA by SMS paid (?!),
š„ Twitter thread
It inspired me to document my process.
